Understanding Payment Types
Card-present
Card-present transactions are transactions that occur through the direct use of a physical card. They incur lower fees because the chance of fraud and/or charge backs dramatically decreases.

Card-not-present
Card-not-present transactions are those that occur over a non-physical medium (i.e., online orders). The fees will be higher with these transactions than those where a card is present. Note there are special cases, such as manual entry, where the card might be physically present but the transaction will be considered card-not-present because there is no way to verify the information has not just been copied.
